Monks have a a very important role in Thailand daily life. For all the key family events, they are invited home for prayers and meals. The social interactions with Monks are quite codified and they receive a very high level of respect from any Thai people. They live in very simple conditions and receive most of the food for their means from daily donations.
It was in the bus station of Udon Thani, north-east Thailand, on the way to the village of my friend Yao. The water festival (Songkran) was just starting. Watching kids playing with water, attacking the bus passengers was quite funny for me and the monk siting beside. His eyes were full of wisdom and malice
