Portfolio : published – Life Stories in Photo Analogies #1

“This life’s dim windows of the soul
Distorts the heavens from pole to pole
And leads you to believe a lie
When you see with, not through, the eye.”― William Blake

This portfolio uses photography as an excuse, as a key to open door and put one step into the life of the people I meet. These encounters are guided by the camera I have in hand, they can happen in any location, at any time. In fact, amazing people are everywhere, and often just at the corner of the street.

I use a simple process; after a quick first portrait, I stop shooting and we converse, using whatever language we are lucky enough to have in common, it happens we just talk with our hands. Sometimes by these conversations, we travel together in an extraordinary life journey, some share intimate details of their life, others only focus on the place they like, sometimes I can only guess what is happening. For this first magazine issue, I have selected seven of these life stories that are now part of my own journey.

Technicalities :

All pictures shot with a mamiya 7II and 65mm f4.0. Films used : Kodak TriX at various ISO, Fuji Pro 160s, Fuji Astia 100 and Fuji Provia 100F

Note from the photographer : “the Mamiya 7 and the 65mm is the perfect combination for portraits with context”

Les films utilisés sont : Kodak TriX at various ISO, Fuji Pro 160s, Fuji Astia 100 and Fuji Provia 100F
